We opened Lumen in 2016 with one idea: that excellent dentistry and a calm, kind experience should never be a trade-off.
Our story
Started on Alder Street, still here
Dr. Maya Chen spent eight years in large corporate practices watching patients get rushed through fifteen-minute slots and leave with treatment plans they did not understand. She opened Lumen in a converted 1920s bungalow on Alder Street with two chairs and a promise to do it differently.
Ten years on we have six treatment rooms, a team of nineteen and more than 6,000 patients, many of them whole families. We still book longer appointments than most practices, still explain before we treat, and still keep the front porch swing.
We invest in technology that makes visits shorter and kinder: 3D scanners instead of impression trays, same-day crowns milled on site and digital X-rays that use a fraction of the radiation of film.
If a patient leaves confused about their own mouth, we have not done our job.
