A salon in a house, on purpose
Maison Rose lives in a restored 1850s Charleston single house, with piazza doors open to the garden whenever the weather allows.
Since 2014
Started with one chair and a piazza
Camille Laurent opened Maison Rose after twelve years colouring hair in Paris and on Bleecker Street. She wanted a salon that felt less like a production line and more like visiting a friend with very good taste.
The house on Wentworth Street came with heart-pine floors, a crooked magnolia and a lot of work. Today it holds five chairs, a quiet colour bar and a bridal suite upstairs with its own entrance from the garden.
We still book every appointment with breathing room on either side. It costs us a few clients a day. It gives everyone who walks in the time they actually came for.
Good hair is never rushed. Neither are good conversations.
